Lopez Emotionally Reflects on Tearful Moment During First Met Gala Fitting After Designer Luigi Massi’s Passing at 53

Jennifer Lopez turned heads at the Met Gala on Monday evening, looking stunning on the red carpet. However, she shared that her appearance was more emotional than people realized, as she and her team had tears during her first fitting. Putting on her custom Versace gown, decorated with Swarovski crystals, was particularly challenging as the designer of the gown, Luigi Massi, had recently passed away at the age of 53 from a heart attack. Lopez found it difficult to put on the gown knowing that Massi wasn’t there to see it.

Jennifer Lopez shared that her first fitting for the Met Gala gown was an emotional experience, with both her and her team shedding tears. In a video on her YouTube channel, she revealed that she was moved to tears by the thought of Luigi, the designer of the gown, who had passed away during its creation. The process of transforming into her glamorous look took a total of seven hours and the gown itself took 50 days to complete. Despite the emotional journey, Jennifer described it as a celebration of Luigi’s work. The singer stunned on the red carpet at the Met Gala, with her fiancé Alex Rodriguez by her side, showcasing the theme of Camp: Notes on Fashion.

Difficult moments: She revealed that she was deeply saddened by the loss of Luigi Massi (shown in a photo with the designer and Donatella Versace in 2014).

The celebrity had a hard time getting into her custom-made Swarovski crystal-covered Versace gown, as the designer Luigi Massi had recently passed away at the age of 53. Luigi was the creative mind behind the famous green Versace dress Jennifer wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards, a dress she almost didn’t wear. Jennifer considers this outfit as her most significant fashion moment but mentioned that it was put together in a hurry just a few days before the event because she had procrastinated on finding a gown. Reflecting on the experience, she shared, “Wearing the green Versace jungle print dress was probably my ultimate fashion moment… I was up for a Grammy that night, and I was in the middle of shooting ‘The Wedding Planner’ with Matthew McConaughey when my stylist rushed in and said, ‘The Grammys are tomorrow!'”

Feeling unsure about her outfit choices for the Grammys, Jennifer’s stylist Andrea Lieberman suggested against a jungle print dress that Donatella Versace had worn before. However, Jennifer’s friend and manager Benny Medina insisted that it was the perfect choice. With limited time for fittings and only two options to choose from, Jennifer took a risk and went with the iconic Versace jungle-print dress for the event.

Silver sensation: In a previous episode of her YouTube series ‘Fashion Moments’, she shared a funny anecdote about a green dress she wore. She recounted how her friend Benny immediately approved of the dress, despite her stylist’s concerns that it had been worn before. She joked about the low-cut neckline of the dress, mentioning that they had to use double stick tape to ensure no wardrobe malfunctions on stage. Thankfully, everything stayed in place, and she felt secured in the stunning ensemble.
